Between Cavaillon and Coustellet, the village of Maubec is superbly situated for exploring the diverse regions of Provence. And our 18th-century stone manor house couldn't be more charming.
The property is totally enclosed with entry into a lovely walled garden with lawn, landscaped flower beds and swimming pool with covered terrace. A stone arch leads to an interior courtyard with a spacious covered terrace , the roof of which could well be what remains of the manor's old stable. Today there's a built-in barbecue and long wrought-iron dining table, making it the perfect spot for festive outdoor meals. The manor house itself consists of two wings built around a central graveled courtyard, also attractively landscaped with lavender, rosemary and flower beds, oleander, cypress and mulberry trees. Inside, both wings of the house have been beautifully renovated retaining traditional architectural design. They feature wood-beamed and plaster ceilings, stone floors along with exposed stone and cream-colored walls. Furnishings include a tasteful combination of quality contemporary and antique pieces, and the house is equipped with every comfort and convenience. Entry is into a spacious open-plan living-dining room with full kitchen. In the sitting area two evergreen leather sofas and leather easy chairs are grouped around an antique wood coffee table. Behind is a long French country dining table and chairs seating 10 people. Antique chests, lamps and works of original art accent this handsome room. Tucked in the far corner is the fully equipped kitchen with stone counters, beige painted cabinets, center island and all appliances. A stone stairway from the entry leads to 2 bedrooms, one with queen bed and another with twins, each with ensuite bathroom. In the adjacent wing are 3 more bedrooms, one on the ground level and two more upstairs, each with twin beds convertible to king and ensuite bathrooms. All bedrooms are equipped with overhead fans and are graciously appointed, featuring top-quality bedding, pretty side tables and lamps as well as antique tables, chests and armoires. The bathrooms all feature terra cotta or painted tilework and include showers and toilet facilities.A wonderful Provençal country home for large families and groups of friends. |
