The medieval town of Sarlat is one of the pearls of the Perigord and considered a "must-see" for visitors to the region. Which is why this stone house, set above the town, is always in demand. The beautiful medieval town center with its historic buildings and its lively shops and cafés are all within easy walking distance. If that weren’t just about perfect, the views over Sarlat and out to the countryside are panoramic.
The property includes a lovely landscaped garden and pool overlooking Sarlat. Fruit trees, shrubs and flowering plants abound. A stone terrace runs along the front of the house where a wonderful old lime tree provides plenty of shade. Inside, the house is well designed and nicely decorated. Beamed ceilings and tan tile floors accent pastel walls and a combination of contemporary and antique furnishings. Entry is into the open-plan living-dining room. In the sitting area an overstuffed red upholstered sofa and brown leather loveseat are grouped around a wood coffee table in front of the fireplace with carved wood mantel. Adjacent is the dining area with round wrought iron table and chairs. A partition separates the dining area from the well-equipped kitchen with oak cabinets and tan and pale green tile counters. Several sets of French doors open from the kitchen and living areas to the front terrace and garden. There are a total of 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. One of the bedrooms is on the main living level off the sitting room and has an ensuite bathroom. Stairs lead up to 3 more bedrooms along a corridor, one of which is dormitory-style with 4 singles most appropriate for children. The bedrooms are all pleasantly decorated with pretty bedcovers and curtains. Also on the corridor is another bathroom. On the main level are additional toilet facilities. A very comfortable house in an exceptional setting in the heart of a celebrated medieval town. |
