This single story cottage, with honey-colored stone facade and pale green shutters, is idyllically set on the banks of the Sorgue River. The center of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, celebrated for its Sunday market, is close by with its wealth of antique shops, lively cafés, restaurants and boutiques.
The grounds are enclosed by hedges and include a lovely natural garden with an enormous plane tree, lawn, native plants, shrubs and a small swimming pool just behind the house. At the end of the garden is the Sorgue River where you can swim nearby. And you have your choice of outdoor dining areas -- under the plane tree or on the covered terrace adjacent to the house. Inside, the house has been totally renovated and comfortably furnished. The living room includes a red upholstered sofa, an easy chair and antique wood coffee table arranged in front of the fireplace. White walls and light terra cotta tile floors add to the brightness of the room. French doors open to the garden and back covered terrace. To the right of the entry is the kitchen with dining area. The kitchen has cream-colored wood cabinets, butcher block counters, colorful tilework and new appliances. It is light and bright with two large windows on the yard. The dining area has an antique wood table with seating for 4 people. A corridor from the entry leads to 2 bedrooms, a small office with sofabed and a bathroom. The bedrooms have colorful spreads and curtains and good closet space. The sofabed in the office is most appropriate for a child. A colorful frieze highlights white ceramic tile in the bathroom with tub and sink. Toilet facilities are separate. A sweet cottage in a scenic and highly central location for day trips throughout Provence. |
