The Marais is one of the most lively and historic areas of Paris. In its heart is the Place des Vosges, the city’s oldest arcaded square. Built by King Henry IV in the early 17th century, it was known as the Place Royale and was the center of elegance and festivities. Today, the square and the surrounding neighborhood are still bustling with exquisite food shops, cafés, restaurants, galleries and boutiques.
Located just around the corner from the Place des Vosges on the rue des Tournelles, this compact studio is the perfect alternative to an overpriced, tiny hotel room. It is on the ground floor of a 19th-century Regency building and has been totally renovated and restored. Honey-colored exposed stone evokes the history of the apartment, newly decorated and designed with all modern comforts and conveniences. The main room features a sleeping alcove with a warm red wall and a queen bed. The bedding is top quality and includes fine linens. A large window lets in plenty of light during the day, while opaque curtains with sheers ensure privacy and a good night’s sleep. In the corner by the entry is a kitchenette with two-burner cooktop, microwave, small refrigerator, mini-dishwasher and ample kitchen equipment, dishes and glassware. There is also a small table and dining chairs as well as an easy chair. Completing the apartment is a fully-tiled bathroom with shower. An elegant little studio in a historic and stylish Paris neighborhood. *Note: the apartment is below our 2-bedroom apartment (AH91) and down the street from our 1-bedroom apartment (AH66), all on the rue des Tournelles. When available, they can be combined to accommodate groups of 6-8 people. |
