The Marais is one of the most lively and historic areas of Paris. In its heart is the Place des Vosges, the city’s oldest arcaded square. Built by King Henry IV in the early 17th century, it was known as the Place Royale and was the center of elegance and festivities. Today, the square and the surrounding neighborhood are still bustling with exquisite food shops, cafés, restaurants, galleries and boutiques.
Located just around the corner from the Place des Vosges on the rue des Tournelles, this elegant two-bedroom apartment is set in a 19th-century Regency building. It is on the first floor (see note below) with elevator access. The apartment has been lovingly renovated and restored and features polished oak parquet floors, sculpted plaster molding, decorative marble fireplaces, tall windows and high ceilings. Decorated with the utmost style and flair, the apartment features richly-colored fabrics, handsome contemporary furnishings, beautiful antique pieces, original works of art, state-of the art appliances and every convenience. The entry opens to a spacious open-plan living-dining room and kitchen. It is light and bright with three large windows. The sitting area includes a lovely upholstered sofa (convertible to a queen bed) and easy chairs grouped in front of the marble fireplace. A gold leaf Napoleon III mirror hangs above the mantel. Behind is the dining area with dark wood table and chairs for 4 people. A high slate-topped breakfast bar with stools separates the sitting and dining areas from the kitchen. Its sleek design includes stainless steel counters, yellow cabinets, contemporary lighting, all appliances and a full complement of kitchen tools, pots, pans, dishes and glassware. Completing the apartment are 2 bedrooms, each with full bathroom. Both bedrooms overlook an interior courtyard and are beautifully appointed with fine linens, handsewn curtains and bedcovers. The bedding is top quality: one is a queen, the other a king convertible to twins. Ensuite with the queen bedroom is a full bath with travertine-marble floor and white ceramic-tiled shower. The bathroom serving the king bedroom has an American-style tub with shower and white ceramic tilework. An apartment of the highest caliber in one of Paris’ most historic and stylish neighborhoods. **Note: the apartment is non-smoking. The apartment is above our studio (AH92) and down the street from our 1-bedroom apartment (AH66), all on the rue des Tournelles. When available, they can be combined to accommodate groups of 6-8 people. |
