Set in three-acre grounds, this old Provençal mas sporting an ocher exterior and blue shutters has spectacular views of the Dentelles de Montmirail, vineyards and the valley below. It is located just a short drive from the village of Beaumes-de Venise, celebrated for its muscat aperitif wine.
The terraced grounds feature oak, fig and olive trees, landscaped beds with lavender, rosemary and roses and below the house, a large swimming pool. Running the length of the front of the house is an arbored terrace, the perfect spot for leisurely outdoor meals and taking full advantage of the magnificent views. Inside, the house has been renovated in fine Provençal style with terra cotta tile floors, wood-beamed ceilings and colorful walls. Antique wood pieces accent casual contemporary furnishings. French doors open into the kitchen with corner breakfast area, yellow walls, wood cabinets and counters and an olive-wood work table in the center. It is well equipped with all appliances and conveniences. An archway leads to the open-plan living-dining room. Closest to the kitchen is the dining area with an antique wood table and chairs for up to 8 people. At the other end is a comfortable sitting area with sofa, antique cane bench and easy chairs grouped around a wood-burning stove. Three sets of French doors open to the arbored terrace and the wonderful mountain and valley views. The property has a total of 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. One bedroom is off the living room and has an ensuite bathroom. There are additional toilet facilities on the ground level as well. Stairs from the living room lead to two more bedrooms and a large bathroom on the hall. All of the bedrooms are attractively furnished with pretty bedcovers and antique tables and chests. A traditional country home in one of the most scenic areas of Provence. |
