St-Rémy-de-Provence just may be the quintessential Provençal town with its graceful plane-tree shaded avenues, lively shops, weekly open-air market, fascinating Roman ruins and majestic views of the Alpilles. And this late 18th-century mas, at the foot of the Alpilles, is a marvelous place to enjoy the delights of St-Rémy as well as all the sights of Provence.
The two-story stone mas sits in spacious landscaped grounds including a large lawn and a variety of flowering shrubs and plants. In the front of the property is a stone terrace shaded by a tall plane tree, the perfect spot for leisurely outdoor meals. Completing the grounds are a long bassin-style swimming pool and summer kitchen with barbecue.
Inside, the house has undergone complete renovation with no expense spared. Traditional architectural features include wood beamed ceilings, exposed stone walls, terra cotta and hardwood floors. The welcoming entry hall features a bar area. To the left of the entry is the living room with chaise longue and easy chairs grouped in front of the decorative stone fireplace. Adjacent is the dining room with antique wood table for 8 people and wood armoire. Doors from both the dining room and the entry hall lead to the fully-equipped kitchen. Muted blue-gray walls and cabinets blend with stainless steel appliances and stone counters.
There are a total of 4 bedrooms, all graciously decorated with richly-colored fabrics, antique chests, tables and armoires. Each has its own full ensuite bath with the highest quality fixtures and ceramics. To the right of the entry on the ground level is a queen suite. Upstairs are 3 additional suites, one with king bed and two others with queen beds. The upstairs bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning units. The master suite has a king bed and there are two more suites with queen beds. All of the queen beds are convertible to twins.
