This 18th-century Provençal farmhouse is located near Bonnieux, a charming village perched above the Luberon valley. It is set in 5-acre grounds and perfectly positioned with magnificent views of neighboring villages and the scenic valley below. The property includes landscaped terraced grounds with plane, olive and cypress trees, lavender and a wide variety of shrubs and flowering plants. Below the house is the swimming pool with stone terrace and summer kitchen with covered eating area.
Inside, the house has been wonderfully renovated and combines traditional Provençal architectural features such as wood beamed ceilings and terra cotta tile floors with stylish, contemporary furnishings, antique pieces and all modern conveniences. On the ground floor is the living room with a grouping of pretty sofas and easy chairs around a wood coffee table in front of the fireplace. This room is accented by occasional tables and lamps. A stone archway leads to a den with library area and large work table. In front is a television area with more comfortable seating. Adjacent is the dining room, with its large stone fireplace, a pretty antique oval dining table and chairs for 10 people and antique chests. Off the dining room is a spacious and well-equipped French country kitchen with wood counters, pale celery-colored cabinets and antique kitchen chests. This is a wonderful kitchen for serious cooks with professional quality stove, two ovens, a center island and breakfast table. The room takes full advantage of the marvelous country views. French doors open to a small arbored dining terrace and on another side to another larger graveled terrace with furniture for both dining and relaxing. The house has 4 bedrooms and 4 baths. On the main level are a bedroom and a bathroom. Stairs from the den lead to the master suite with king bed and large bathroom. Stairs from the entry hall lead to two more bedrooms, one with ensuite bath and another with hall bath. In addition at the top of these stairs is a small sleeping area most appropriate for a child or overnight guest. All of the bedrooms are invitingly decorated and the bathrooms feature colorful tilework. The quintessential Provençal country home near a picturesque hilltop village. *Note: the property is set on a slope with terraced grounds, and the house has many stairs. It may not be appropriate for small children or the elderly. |
