The village of Cabrières d'Avignon couldn't be more centrally located in the scenic Luberon. And this extraordinary residence is located in the heart of the village. Just steps away is one of the best bakeries in the region. And you can walk to a small grocery, butcher and a couple of charming restaurants. The renowned perched villages of the Luberon, Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and its celebrated Sunday market, and all the sights of Provence are within easy driving distance.
With origins in the 17th century, the manor house and surrounding grounds are exceptional in every way and among the finest in our portfolio. No expense has been spared in the renovation and furnishings which include the highest quality building materials, state-of-the-art appliances, handsome furniture, an extensive collection of antique maps and works of art, along with every comfort and convenience. The property is centrally heated and fully air conditioned. The estate grounds are enclosed by stone walls and constitute just over one-third of an acre, expansive for their village location. The stunningly landscaped grounds feature lavender beds, rosemary and an array of flowering plants and shrubs along with cypress, olive and fruit trees. Set away from the house and surrounded by a low stone wall is a pretty swimming pool with stone terrace and ample lounging furniture. The pool has a salt-water filtration system and can also be heated. Nearby is a summer kitchen with barbecue and dining table. And adjacent to the house is a spacious canopy-covered stone terrace with a long rectangular wood dining table and chairs, the perfect spot for large groups to socialize and share leisurely outdoor meals. Inside, the manor house has been decorated with the utmost taste and style. Traditional architectural features such as old wood and plaster ceilings, stone fireplaces and stone floors highlight a stylish combination of contemporary furnishings and unique antique pieces. On the ground floor, entry is into a spacious double salon with heavy wood beamed ceiling and large stone fireplace. An upholstered sofa and two beige leather armchairs are grouped around an ottoman by the fireplace. Occasional tables, lamps and works of art, including a full wall display of antique maps accent this gracious room. An archway leads to a smaller sitting area with two leather sofas and upholstered armchair grouped around a wrought-iron glass-topped coffee table. Large wrought-iron framed glass windows and doors open from both of these rooms to the terraces and grounds. An archway from the salon leads to the formal dining room with a large antique wood table and chairs for 12 people. An antique armoire and chest are warm accents to this wonderful room with glass doors opening to the canopied dining terrace. From here another small archway opens to the French country kitchen, a dream-come-true for amateur to professional cooks. Top-of-the-line appliances include a professional-level gas range, two gas ovens, two stainless steel refrigerators, expansive stone preparation counters, and a full range of pots, pans and utensils. In the center is a light-wood breakfast table, the ideal setting for those who enjoy "supervising" the cooks. Also on the entry level are separate toilet facilities and a casual den-game room with flat-screen television and comfortable seating. There are a total of 6 bedrooms, all upstairs and each with full ensuite bathroom and toilet facilities. They are beautifully decorated with occasional antique pieces as well as pretty curtains, lovely duvets, fine linens and ample wardrobe space. The spacious master suite has a king bed, sitting area with loveseat by the fireplace and French doors opening to a private roof-top terrace. There are king beds in three additional suites, along with two family suites. The family rooms have two beds each - one queen and one double. The bathrooms feature quality ceramic tilework and fixtures. Four have separate showers and bathtubs, and the other two have American-style tubs with showers. An exceptional home and setting for large groups of friends and families in the heart of a Provençal village. Note: adjacent to the property is Cabrières Village (AH19) for 6 people, an independent property with its own grounds. When rented in combination with Domaine de Cabrières, the two properties accommodate 18/20 people total (see AH20 for the combined listing). |
