Dating back to the 18th century, this charming house with bright blue shutters is located in the tiny village of Brugairolles. Surrounding the village are rolling hills and vineyards of the picturesque Languedoc countryside. Brugairolles itself has no shops, but you‘ll enjoy fresh bread and breakfast pastries from the bakery van that comes daily between 8:30 - 9:30 am.

A few kilometers down the road is Limoux, celebrated for its sparkling wine, the original "champagne" of France. Also close by is Carcassonne, the largest medieval walled city in all of Europe. And if you prefer outdoor excursions, Mediterranean beaches and the majestic Pyrenees are all within your reach.

In front of the house is a private courtyard with a stone terrace highlighted by plants, shrubs and flowers. Dining and lounging furniture makes it a wonderful spot for relaxing and outdoor meals. Inside the house has been well renovated and features stone and marble fireplaces, tile and wood floors and an eclectic combination of modern and antique furnishings including many old engravings and maps.

To the right of the entry hall is the living room with a burgundy-colored leather sofa and wing chairs grouped around a glass coffee table by the fireplace. Built-in bookshelves and a colorful Asian-style carpet accent this comfortable room with a window on the front courtyard. To the left of the entry is the dining room with a pretty polished wood table and upholstered chairs for 6 people.

A doorway opens to the spacious country kitchen. It’s sure to become your favorite with its wood ceiling, white tile counters and floors, wood cabinets, oval wood breakfast table and easy access to the front terrace.

There are a total of 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The bedrooms are all upstairs and accessed by two separate staircases. Stairs from the front entry hall lead to two of the bedrooms, one with a queen bed and decorative fireplace and another with a double bed. These two bedrooms are classically decorated with antique wood tables, quilts and colorful rugs. The third bedroom is accessed from a staircase off the kitchen and has a king bed. Modern decor features light pine chests and side tables and blue and white bedcover and curtains.

Between the double and king bedrooms is a cozy den with blue and white upholstered loveseat and two easy chairs grouped around an antique cane chest. Also on this level, off the den and the king bedroom, is a full bathroom with shower. There is another bathroom downstairs off the kitchen with separate toilet facilities adjacent.

An inviting home in a central location for exploring southwestern France.

*Note: the village church bells ring every 15 minutes throughout the day and into the evening. After a day or two, you will probably not notice them.
