This old stone cottage has an ideal location just outside the lively market town of le Bugue. It's a pleasant walk into town or a short drive, as you prefer. Located on the banks of the Vézère River, le Bugue boasts a busy open-air market every Tuesday morning and a full range of shops, supermarkets, banks, cafés and restaurants.
The cottage is set in spacious grounds of over six acres with lovely country views from many perspectives. Surrounding it is a natural garden with grass, flowering shrubs and trees. An old barn opposite the cottage serves as a shady place to read and relax. And there is an arbored eating area on the front. Stairs lead to a round swimming pool set below the garden. Inside, the old cottage has been well renovated and retains traditional architectural features such as dark wood beamed ceilings, stone and wood floors and exposed stone walls. The décor includes comfortable contemporary furnishings with warm antique wood accents. Entry is into the living room with its old stone and wood beamed fireplace. Here a red upholstered sofa and easy chairs are grouped by a wood coffee table near the fireplace. An antique chest, lamps and small tables complete this pleasant room. A door leads to the kitchen with wood counters, pale blue wood cabinets, brick mosaic tile floor and all appliances. Off the kitchen is the dining room with round wood table and chairs for 4 people. French doors from both the kitchen and dining room open to the arbored terrace and the garden. The cottage has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Off the living room is the master bedroom with king bed, beamed ceilings, wood floor and doors to the garden. Ladder-type stairs from the dining room lead to a small bedroom built under the rafters with twin beds and its own full bathroom with tub, sink and toilet facilities. This room is best for children. A corridor off the living room leads to another bathroom with large tiled shower and sink. Additional toilet facilities are adjacent. A pretty country cottage near a lively town and centrally located for day trips throughout the Dordogne. *Note: a third bedroom with twin beds under the rafters is available at an additional charge. The property rents on a Friday to Friday schedule. |
