This traditional Perigourdine stone house is located in the countryside just a short drive from le Bugue. The town has cafés, restaurants, shops and a bustling open-air market on Tuesday mornings. The property sits in spacious grounds including a natural garden with lawn, tall trees and variety of flowering shrubs. Behind the house is a pretty swimming pool with stone terrace overlooking the neighboring fields and woods.
The old stone house is comprised of a main house on one side and a cottage attached on the other. Each accommodates 4 people. The two accommodations can be connected by a door upstairs between bedrooms on either side. The property has been well renovated and features wood beamed ceilings, stone floors and exposed stone walls. Furnishings include a combination of casual contemporary and French country pieces. In the main house to the left of the entry is a spacious living-dining room. In the sitting area a tan upholstered sofa and two armchairs are grouped around an antique wood coffee table by the old stone fireplace with inset wood-burning stove. Behind is the dining area with a wood table and wrought iron chairs. Asian-style carpets, chests, occasional tables and lamps accent this inviting room. Across the entry to the right is the kitchen with granite counters, yellow wood cabinets, colorful tilework and professional level stove. A counter separates the U-shaped kitchen from the dining area with wood table, cane chairs and antique china chest and large fireplace. A large picture window looks out on the front garden. This is a warm and appealing room with French country charm. Stairs from the living room lead to 2 bedrooms and a full bathroom with shower. There is another large bathroom on the main living level with both tub and shower. The bedrooms are simply and pleasantly decorated. To the left of the main house is the cottage accommodating 4 people. Entry is into an open-plan living-dining room with kitchenette. The sitting area has an upholstered sofa and arm chairs. Behind is an oval white lacquer dining table and chairs for 4 people. Adjacent to the dining area is the kitchenette with granite counters, a four-burner cooktop and small refrigerator. Stairs lead to 2 queen bedrooms and large bathroom with shower and double sinks. There are additional toilet facilities downstairs. A country home with great Perigourdine charm in a highly central location. Note: the property is rented in mid season to groups of no more than 6 people at a lower rate. |
