Ste-Alvère is a classic Perigourdine village with a butcher, bakeries, bank and simple restaurants as well as a post office and gas station. Set on a quiet lane in the village, you can walk to all the shops from this three-story house with stucco and stone façade and burgundy shutters. And an array of other charming towns and villages along with all the historic sights of the region are just short drives away.
Built on three levels, the house is spacious and well renovated. It is light and airy with high ceilings and tall windows in each room. The décor features pastel and brightly colored walls, tile and wood floors, decorative fireplaces, and lovely antique tables, chests, mirrors and armoires. Of particular note is a collection of antique lamps, chandeliers and fashion-related drawings and objets. A large entry hall features a black leather sofa and lovely chandelier. To the right is a sitting room with brown tufted sofa and two armchairs grouped around a wood coffee table. Behind is a game table and chairs along with an antique chest, occasional tables and lamps. Off the entry to the left is a pretty dining room with oval wood table, cane chairs and antique chests. A door from the dining room leads to the spacious and well-equipped kitchen. The floor features gray ceramic tile with beautiful painted tile inset. Wood counters, light oak cabinets, yellow walls and a round wood breakfast table make the kitchen intimate and inviting. All of the downstairs rooms have tall windows on the street. A beautiful spiral wood staircase at the end of the entry hall leads to the second and third floors. On the second floor to the right of the landing is a small den with television and comfortable seating. From here a door opens to a sweet stone tile terrace with teak table and dining chairs. The dining area is arbored and the terrace is in an interior courtyard of the house. A small refrigerator in the den is the perfect place to chill drinks and wine close to the terrace. The property includes 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. All of the bedrooms have double beds and feature colorful bedcovers, antique armoires and chests. On the second floor are three bedrooms. One has a full ensuite bathroom with tub, sink and toilet. The other two have ensuite showers and sinks. Two more bedrooms on the third floor share a large bathroom with shower and toilet facilities. All of the bathrooms have colorful ceramic tile work and quality fixtures. There are additional toilet facilities on the entry level. A house with tremendous character and charm in the heart of a Perigourdine village. Note: the house can be rented for a maximum of 6 people at a reduced rate. |
