This old stone farmhouse has been beautifully restored and is set in large secluded grounds and surrounded by open countryside and agricultural fields. The grounds feature a lovely landscaped garden with mature trees, shrubs and flowers. Adjacent to the house is a large stone terrace with ample room for relaxing, a large teak table for outdoor meals and a private swimming pool.
Inside, the house has been restored to highlight its traditional architectural design including old wood beamed ceilings, stone tile floors and exposed stone walls. There are two wings, one with living room, dining room and kitchen and the other with bedrooms and baths, both with stylish contemporary furnishings. The arched entrance leads into a hallway with French doors overlooking the pool and patio. To the right is the spacious living room with two red sofas and several rattan easy chairs grouped around a pretty wood coffee table near the old stone fireplace with wood-burning stove inset. Adjacent is the dining room with French country table for 8 people. Beyond is the large kitchen with yellow and blue tile counters, oak cabinets, brand new appliances and an oval wood breakfast table. French doors from all of these rooms open to the pool and garden. Also on this level in the wing to the left of the entrance are 2 bedrooms, each with ensuite baths. One has doors opening to the pool terrace and the other to the front graveled courtyard. There is another separate bathroom as well. Stairs lead up to 2 more bedrooms, one of which has an ensuite bath. The bedrooms are all very comfortable and nicely decorated. A delightful home in the best Périgourdine tradition. Note: in low season, this home may be rented by parties of 6 or fewer at a reduced rate. |
