The stone-walled medieval village of Limeuil is classified as one of France's Plus Beaux Villages with an exceptional setting, at the confluence of the Dordogne and Vézère rivers. It's a delight to wander the charming stone-paved streets. And it's a scenic spot for river swimming or enjoying an afternoon aperitif at the riverside café.
Located just a short drive from Limeuil, this property is set in park-like grounds of over four acres with lovely views of the countryside and neighboring towns. The park is bordered by a wooded area and includes tall shade and fruit trees, a large lawn, a pretty swimming pool and a hard-surface tennis court. The property consists of a main house accommodating 4 people and a cottage, also for 4 people. These old stone buildings have been well renovated and feature heavy beamed ceilings, exposed stone walls, wood and tile floors. Furnishings include an eclectic combination of contemporary and antique pieces. In the main house, a large entry hall leads to the living room to the right and open-plan dining room and kitchen to the left. In the living room, there are a rose-colored settee and a beige upholstered love seat grouped near the fireplace. Two unique coffee tables have been fashioned from antique doors from India. In one corner is a large desk, and there are bookshelves lining one of the walls. Occasional tables, lamps, colorful Asian carpets and a large picture window accent this gracious room. The dining room has warm yellow walls and an oval wood dining table for 8 people. A red ceramic-tile counter separates the dining area from the fully-equipped kitchen with oak cabinets, cream-colored tile floor and all appliances. There's plenty of preparation space for cooks of all levels. A staircase from the entry leads to 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. Both bedrooms are attractively decorated with bedcovers, side tables and lamps and there is ample wardrobe space for both bedrooms on the hall. The bathroom is easily accessible to the bedrooms and boasts colorful blue and white ceramic tilework. It includes both a tub and large shower as well as an alcove with toilet facilities. Just steps from the main house is a stone cottage with two more bedrooms and a bathroom. These bedrooms are simply and pleasantly decorated with the bathroom in between. The bathroom includes a sink and shower with separate toilet facilities adjacent. Near the cottage is another stone building which has been beautifully renovated as a summer kitchen and salon with heavy beamed ceilings and stone floor. Appliances include a refrigerator, gas cooktop, dishwasher and there are dishes and glassware. A counter separates the kitchen from the dining area with wood dining table and chairs. Between the cottage and the summer salon is another outdoor arbored dining area with table and chairs and easy access to the facilities in the summer kitchen. Completing the property is small building with the laundry facilities, shower and separate toilet. A spacious and very private setting for a wonderful vacation in Dordogne. Note: in high season, the property is rented in its entirety for 8 people. In mid season it may be rented for up to 4 (main house only) or in its entirety for 8. In low season, the main house only is available for up to 4 people. The property is occupied by just one party at a time. |
