An old 17th-century hunting lodge, this stone house is set in three acres of grounds, close to the famous Lascaux caves. The natural garden includes grass, shrubs and lots of tall trees. To the side of the house is a lovely swimming pool with tile terrace, the perfect spot to relax and enjoy country views. There is also a graveled terrace in front with outdoor dining furniture.
The house maintains much of its original character including the lauze (stone) roof, a traditional feature of Perigourdine architecture. Beamed ceilings and exposed stone walls accent casual, comfortable furnishings. Entry is into the living room with an upholstered sofa and easy chairs grouped in front of the old stone fireplace with wood-burning stove. A colorful rug, occasional tables, lamps and chests complete the room. Several stairs go down to a spacious kitchen with wood dining table for 6 people. French doors open from the kitchen to the dining terrace.. There are a total of 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, all accessed by stairs from the kitchen. On the second floor are two bedrooms, each with double bed. One has an ensuite bathroom with shower. There is another bathroom with tub and shower attachment on the hall. A short flight of stairs leads to the third bedroom with twin beds. A comfortable home and excellent value at any time of year. |
