Ste-Alvère is a classic Perigourdine village with a butcher, bakeries, bank and simple restaurants as well as a post office and gas station. Located in the countryside just a short drive from Ste-Alvère, this old stone farmhouse is set in spacious grounds including expansive lawns, landscaped beds with shrubs and flowers and tall trees. Set away from the farmhouse is a beautiful swimming pool with stone terrace. And adjacent to the house are gravel and tiled terraces with outdoor dining furniture. Whether you're relaxing by the pool or enjoying leisurely outdoor meals, you'll enjoy views of fields and rolling hills. And an array of other charming towns and villages along with all the historic sights of the region are within easy driving distance.
Inside, the old farmhouse has been renovated in fine Perigourdine tradition. Warm honey-colored stone walls, beamed ceilings and tile floors are classic architectural features. The décor includes a combination of handsome furnishings, all appliances and modern conveniences such as high speed internet access. Off the entry to the left is a spacious living room with wood burning stove. A pretty seating group includes comfortable upholstered sofas with plush cushions and easy chairs grouped around a coffee table by the wood stove. There are also a round wood game table and chairs in one corner and a baby grand piano in another. Off the entry to the right is the French country kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is equipped with all appliances and includes oak cabinets and tiled counters. On one side is the dining area with wood farm table and chairs and antique china closet. French doors open to the outdoor dining terrace and grounds. A door from the kitchen leads to a den with a sleek gray leather sectional sofa and arm chair grouped by the open fireplace. It's a cozy spot to settle in with a book or watch television. There are a total of 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The bedrooms are pleasantly decorated with duvets, bedside tables, lamps and ample wardrobe space. The bathrooms are all tiled and include quality fixtures. On the ground level off the living room is a bedroom with double bed and French doors opening to the grounds and terraces. Off this bedroom is a twin-bedded room which has its own exterior door to the courtyard. Also on the ground level off the entry is a full bathroom with shower. Stairs from the den lead to 3 more bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. One of the bedrooms has a queen bed and ensuite bathroom with tub and shower attachment. Another bedroom has twin beds and ensuite bathroom, also with tub and shower attachment. The third bedroom is small with a twin bed for one person. A property with great Perigourdine character and all amenities in a country setting accessible to all the delights of the Dordogne. *Note: the house accommodates 6 people. For a supplement, 2 additional bedrooms are available to accommodate up to 9 people. With advance permission, serious musicians may have access to the piano |
